Fishing season

17" around here is a whopper.

I think people are confusing catching a bunch of 13 inch walleyes with "good fishing". So many times I hear of somebody saying they got their limit, only to find out later it was a bunch of dinks. That's nothing to brag about.

You're right, it isn't even close...

Give me SD any day.

Then why are you over in Sillytown whining about the price of a MN fishing license going up? You're talking like you've decided you don't have a reason to buy one anyway. crazy

And please, spend as much time in SD as your heart desires. wink

Lets look at the rest of the numbers

Minnesota has 11,842 lakes for 400,000 anglers

South Dakota has 799 lakes for 58,000 anglers

Do the math and you will come up with

Minnesota has 33.8 anglers per lake

South Dakota has 77.6 anglers per lake

Do I believe the lakes in SD are pressured twice as much? No. It is probably about the same, maybe slightly less but there not being any pressure is not the reason they allow year-round fishing.

Disclaimer: I use wikianswers for the info on number of lakes. Not the most reliable source but is close enough in the numbers to show that there is at least some pressure on SD lakes.

Need to redo the MN math. From the MN DNR, Fishable lakes: 5,493

Well, just got back from fishing in SD. 34 rigs not including mine parked at the landing of a 1700 acre lake and 3 boats heading down the 2 mile road to the landing while I was leaving.

Good thing SD lakes don't see any pressure. crazy
