Ice castle ??

So I bought a new 8x16 this year make one trip with it and the paint on the frame chipped or some how came off in spots and the wheel well. Woundrring if this happend to anyone else and what did you do?

my band new ice castle did the same thing this year, haven't did anything about it yet.

Just wait until the insulation in the walls settle.

yaya i still cant believe they sell them with insualtion in the walls...But if you do buy one atleast request spray foam..

I bought my Ice Castle last September, it was a year old model, the frame was already showing a few rust spots. I added to the wear and tear by dragging it over a couple of ice heaves and shore line heaves and bottoming out at a couple of service stations with deeps dips. Doesn't bother me, I buy my stuff to use, wear and tear is all part of it, even with the bad ice, got it out a few times, slept over night, had fun, already looking forward to next year.

Plus I knew what I was getting into, I knew that Ice Castles were a little cheaper made, but I didn't have another five grand to get me into a fancier, better painted, bigger one. This one got me out overnight in a wheelhouse, its easy to move, I had fun, in a few years when I can afford it, I'll sell this one and upgrade. Just like boats, vehicles, etc. you upgrade to bigger and better when you can afford it.

I too have an Ice Castle, my third one, and I laugh at all the chatter about Ice Castle. I made six or seven trips to Upper Red Lake this winter. And as I am retired most times we go on Sunday so we meet a lot of wheelhouses going south, a lot of times hundreds of them. It is funny but a very high percentage, probably 70% or more are Ice Castle. I guess there are a lot of us considered not too smart!!! Oh well sure is fun.

ive owned 3 ice castles and have not experienced a sagging of insulation. For a frame to rust out completely to failure would require more than 20 years of neglect and serious rusting.

I bought a new one in dec 10 used it two winters, A little rust on the frame, a little sanding and paint, looked fine. Just ordered a 2013 8x16 Walleye Tracker, looking forward to it, Might even do a little summer camping.
