Leader Line for Live bait rig

I have always used flurocarbon for my leader when live bait rigging for Walleyes, but I have been wondering if using mono might be better since it will "float" up a little and pull the bait up a little. Maybe it's best to experiment with the two? Maybe the sinking action of fluro is better at times and the floating action of mono is better at other times? Anyone have any thoughts on this?

You have good a reason to think that. Mono on live bait rigs will allow the bait to swim more naturally, give you fewer snags and allow you to catch more fish because of it. Flouro is stiff and it sinks. Mono for lindy rigs, flouro for spinner rigs.

Good to hear I'm not too crazy for asking that question. Now you have me thinking, does the main line make a difference for lindy rigs? I have been using a braid main line with a fluro leader. Should I change up to mono and mono, or is a braid and mono combo fine?

If you're worried about snagging, use the stiffer leader. Besides it's less likely to get knotted up by the bait. Or like I say, the fish are laughing and tying knots in the line. LOL.

Sometimes, you do need the more supple line to catch fish, when they're being finicky. So being flexible is key.
