question on factory rod

Recommended Posts

I have my fenwick rod that is getting pretty old, I checked it today and noticed that the finish on the threads wrapping the guide foot is starting to yellow and crack. The rod still fishes great and it is a pricey rod. I am wondering how much work it would be to refinish the guides and what would be the best way to take the old stuff off the rod.

Thanks guys.

you would have to heat up the guides to loosen them. the heat might damage the thread so the best would be to remove the finish and thread and re wrap the guides. just remember to measure from the tip down so you can place the guides back where they were. once you have them wrapped then all you need to do is apply new epoxy and then let it dry and you should be good to go. any good rod builder should be able to redo them for you if you don't want to do it yourself.
