St croix is clearancing their legend tournament series you could get either

the LTBC70MHXF or LTBC70MHF, for $180 shipped to your door. They usually run $240 seems like a pretty good deal on a great rod.

Go to st croix HSOforum, click on shop, bargain room, then freshwater.

Gander online has carrot sticks clearancing for $75 look for the $20 off $100 order code online. Carrot sticks get a bad rap but I always liked the one I had, and you can't beat $75 lol.

Depends how heavy of cover you fish. I personally really like my cumaras and you can get one for that price on sale or nearly new - gret rods but they either go 7'2" or 7'7". I am not a huge fan of the way the 7'7" balances but honestly don't use it that much due to I am not catching many 5#+ fish that require a rod of that caliber. I have powell 734, 733 etc but they do not get nearly the use of my lighter weight (actual rod weight - cumaras) when I go to Texas rigging it is my MH Cumara 7'2" every time as it just feels so much more "sensitive" due to its lightweight and handle - it may be a mental thing but gives me more confidence and that is what matters.

The Savvys are a good rod and I would look at them if you really do some heavy mat punching but unless you are catchin' toads (5#+ usual) or 5# of salad with each fish...I do not think a 735/736 caliber rod is required but that is a personal preference. Also often when pitching you are throwing braid (a short amount of it) with a high quality hook and so you do not have the line stretch and require such a "tv style" hookset.

I guess I feel like if I can get 44"+ muskies to the boat effectively (on a consistent basis) with my 7'2" cumaras that a LMB really should not require any more rod than that.

Just my personal opinion above but I prefer lighter tackle than some.

I use my 7'7" for almost exclusively for swimbaits and double 8's from time to time for musky. It is the reaction series as you know and doe snot have the XF action a guy needs for jigs. I shouldda clarified more about that cumara really does not have a rod over 7'2" if he is really wanting a longer rod - no real options in the cumara lineup.

Just to throw out another rod I really liked and am hopefully picking up soon is by Tooth Tamer.. They recently added 8 Bass rods with looking to 3 more.. I have used a musky rod and loved it.. I would take a look at these.. They run at the upper end of your range.
