Newest Rod/Reel

Just got home from the Fargo Sportsmen's Show(working the Okuma booth). I saw these rods/reels last fall when I was working a distributor show, but never got to play with them. The new Okuma Helios reel and matching Helios rods are extremely light. The reel weights in at 6.3-ounces and the rod weights in at 3.6 to 5.0-ounces, depending on length and power. The rod is a mimi-guide rod. I've yet to fish micro/mini guides. So the total package without line on a 7' medium power is only 9.9-ounces.Looking forward using one this spring.

Surprisingly that weighs in at less than my Cumara/Smoke combo (10.08 ounces), although my rod is a little longer. You should be happy with it. I often will pick it up after muskie fishing and you don't even know you are holding a rod. My favorite spinning rod (Mojo Bass/Supreme XT) is also a lightweight, but checks in at 11.1 ounces.

Now if I could just afford a Revo MGX on a Legend Extreme...

I've been looking into trying a micro guide rod this season. Always liked st. croix's products and leaning towards the new rage series.

I plan on looking over different manufacturers at the show, ill have to look into the okumas while I'm there. Don't think I've ever seen an okuma rod.
