Chode2235
Another one of those "Getting Ready For Spring" projects.I managed to round up a can of Yamaha blue/gray spray paint to touch up some spots on my skeg where the paint hasn't held.My plan is to sand off any loose stuff, tape it off, and apply a couple thin coats. Is this the right procedure?Do I need a primer?Im trying not to overcomplicate this, but with anything painting it is 90% preparation. Thanks. slammer
I use a little emery cloth to rough up the bad spots then clean with some paint de-glosser. Spray on new with a couple coats and lasts me about 2 seasons. I'm sure there are better ways to do it but this works for me.
Genofish
I need to do the same to my Yamaha. Do you have a p/n and supplier?
Chode2235
I need to do the same to my Yamaha. Do you have a p/n and supplier? Yamaha's HSOforum pushes you out to Color Rite, and they have the necessary matched paints. The best way to find out which color you need would be to look up the part on Yamaha's HSOforum (under owner resources) and look at the last two digits of the part number as that is the paint color.I ended up buying the can from color rite, but if you look out on the rest of the internets there are a couple other colors that are more easily available that match it almost perfectly.
