gettig the itch

I must have had my fill of ice fishing (blasphemy), as I am getting the trout itch.

I've got my tackle box stocked with (3) 3/8 Pk spoons, (3) 1/4 flutter fish, (3) 1/8 Pk spoons, (2) #4 Panther Martin Yellow with red dots/ both gold and silver blades, and (2) #4 Panther Martin Black with red dots/ both gold and silver blades.

This is the only time of year I have both open water and ice fishing gear in my truck at the same time.

I got the yellow with the red dots and black with the yellow dots on my list..

Also forgot to add: (4) Pink Squirrels of assorted sizes, (3) wolly buggers, and a handful of assorted flies a guy gave me at Friday's TU Banquet, many of which I'm fearful to even attempt to say the names of, mostly because I know I'm going to botch the dump outta them.

Haha right on.. this is your first season on the fly, right?... A handful of flies should last you an outing or two lol... I went through so many flies when I first started... I remember my first day out I had bought around 2 dozen flies... I lost all but about 4 of them...

Shoot, I still have my days where I lose 4 or 5 flies to poor casts. I don't so much mind losing flies to fish though.

This 'aint my first season, but I'm considered novice at best. My last count was only 1 million casts, most of which was tangled in trees, grass, and brush. It's my goal to improve my aim this year.

Last time south with my new 10' 3 wt. got a lot of trees, and bushes too!

On a good windy day a willow puts up a fine fight.

Lol@ last count... Makes me wanna put a pedometer on my fly rod and see how much I cast a year!

@fishface... You must gotta be pretty picky on what you fish down here with a 10' rod.. I almost jumped on one... But sometimes I feel my 7'6" is too long!... Do you ever break your rod down and cast with the upper half only in tight situations? I believe its lefty kreh who doesn't fish with anything less than 10' and he breaks his rods down and casts with the tip on tight cover... Seems like quite the hassle tho

The hardest things are: 1) keeping track of each roll over and 2) keeping it attached to the fly rod.

I've tried screws, duct tape, epoxy, and super glue...

just not sure anymore.....

Got the long one for lakes and my tube. Took it south because I had to try it! It was good in the open but be bringing the shorter one next time.
