MT Net
The Shoepac strain of muskie is a smaller fish the rarely grows much larger than 36" or so. Years ago, Shoepac muskies were stocked in many lakes, Dumbell, and a couple of times in Vermilion, to name two. It was stopped when the realization of it being a smaller breed. Now the Leech Lake muskie is stocked in most lakes.
Finlander
Shoepack Lake is a small lake located in the Voyagers National Park. Kinda centered on a peninsula in between Rainy Lake, Kabetogema and Namakan Lake. You have to portage to Shoepack to get to it. It's a prtty cool lake! And has the Shoepack muskies living there! Down to Earth
Since I've only lived in MN 4 years and have been fishing muskies even less(2nd year) I was wondering why the size limit on Shoepac is only 30", when it's 40" or greater on the rest of the MN lakes. I live in Rochester, and to be honest I don't even know where the lake is. If someone could fill me in about the lake I would appreciate it. Thanks.
