HB 385ci question

Ive had this unit since last fall and really like it. Love the gps, (esp with the LM chip) and have been very impressed with it as a flasher.

Normally I fish in fairly shallow water. Ranges from 7-11 feet. Last weekend I went to a lake and was fishing in 22 feet of water and was having a hard time seeing my jig. I had tried using the zoom and it didnt seem to help. Im kind of a wet behind the ears when it comes to "high tech" stuff like this, and I seen it had a 83hz and a 200hz option. Or a 83/200hz. When I was playing between them, it filled my flasher screen with red.

Is anyone experianced with this unit and can help me get it dialed in for deeper water? Or tell me what Im doing wrong?

I have also been very impressed with this unit and have had no trouble picking up my jigs or fish even in deep water. Like Jarrod said, make sure you have it set to the high frequency 200 khz, 20 degree cone. I would also make sure to have switchfire set to max mode. There is also a clear mode option, but I have found max mode to be better for ice fishing. In max mode with the 20 degree cone, I usually have my sensitivity set somewhere between 5 and 9 even in deeper water. The bottom content also plays a big role here, so if you are over a soft bottom you may have to turn the sensitivity up. I never use mine on the flasher dial... always on the graph. I always try to keep my sensitivity as low as possible. If you turn it too high, the bottom will "grow" and you won't pick up those bottom hugging fish as well.
