It was only a matter of time...

...before someone broke through at the approach to Carsons Bay. I looked at it this past Tuesday and decided I was back to walking out. All this morning I watched people in trucks drive on to the lake waiting for someone to break through. Just as I was walking up to the approach, a guy in a 3/4 ton backed up to unload gear. I made a comment that I thought he was smart in walking out, but he said he was going to try it. Sure enough he dropped a front wheel in as he was driving in through one of the puddles. As I was leaving, he was making arrangements to get someone to give him a pull. I also reminded him to put some rocks from under the bridge in front of the hole so others knew there was a hole there.

There's plenty of ice for driving on the lake, it's just not safe getting on as this guy found out.
