E-Cat rod for muskies?

Hey you rod gurus:

Several years ago, Berkley developed the E-Cat series of rods for catfishermen. They came in numbers 1 through 4 or 5, with the larger numbers being heavier. Berkley no longer makes them ($75 was too much money for most catmen to shell out, I guess).

Like the name suggests, they are E-glass.

I have a No. 3 that's 8 feet long and one piece (the # 1s and 2s had a telescoping butt, but the 3s and 4s didn't).

It's got a good stiff butt section and a slow action, as you'd expect for E-glass, and is rated for 30-lb mono.

It's pretty hefty, but I'm thinking it would be an OK rod for muskies. I'd spool up 50/20 Fireline on an Ambassadeur 6500 or 7000 for it. I've got a couple other good rods for muskies, but just can't see lettting the E-cat gather dust because I've moved away from catland.

Do you think this would be a decent option?

I think it would work just fine. At worst give it a shot a couple times and see what you think. Can't hurt nothing doing it that way.

I figured it'd be a great muskie (or salmon) trolling rod. Was wondering if it's too hefty to use to throw lures all day. I ain't getting any younger.

But I see some of these guys talking up 8-foot casting rods. Graphite's a lot lighter than glass, though. I'll just have to try it out and see.
