Jigging spoon storage

Kind of the age old tackle box question isn't it? More boxes with more slots means better lure seperation, less tangles, but ...more boxes. I guess we each choose how many boxes we want to tote around, or how much tangling we're willing to put up with.

Personally, I just expanded my ice tackle box selection from 2 to 3 this year (I've used 2 for a looooong time) but I wanted a seperate box just for jigging spoons, as i tend to use them more and more often these days, and was sick of the tangles too!

I was sick of the same thing. What I did was went to a craft store and bought some foam batting. Not styrofoam but a closed cell. I cut it to fit the compartments in my Plano tackle trays and put the lures in there. Sticking the hooks in the the foam. Works great.

I found an interesting article in the FLW Walleye Magazine. They took a Plano StowAway tackle box and a piece of 1 inch thick foam. They cut the foam to fit the box, then they made small slits in the foam to hold the spoons. Then they inserted the spoons deep enough, with the hook end on the outside, so that the spoons won't fall out and the lid will close.
