Ice Castle Furnace Question?

I just got a new Ice castle with a 18,000 btu forced air furnace. Went fishing for the first time this past weekend and had problems with frozen gas lines. Got that all taken care of and the furnace finally worked. The question i have is, the burner would only run for 5-6 seconds and kick off 5-6 seconds and then back on. Did that the whole time like the high limit would kick it out all the time. That doesn't seem right to me but maybe it is. Anyone else have any expirence with these furnaces?

sounds like its not getting enough gas, Is your regulator freezing up? also what size propane tanks are you using? on mine, same furnace, when I was using 20 lb tanks I was not getting enough pressure when it was extremely cold or when the tanks where low. I recommend getting a auto change over regulator if you don't have one. good luck

sounds like you got a piece of dirt in the line and it won't allow the gas to flow properly into the furnace. I had that happen once with another furnace and just a quick shot of compressed air and never had another problem. That was my fault because I went down a gravel road and didn't cap the outside hose...

Goose... This happened to me and I tried this and it seemed to work. On the front of the house there is a regulator by your two propane tanks. There is a screen on the regulator that pulls air in. While going down the road ours got CAKED with road slush and stuff, blocking that screen. Took and bushed off the screen with a brush and it fixed the problem.

Hope that helps!

Goose slayer... I had the same problem as you . I called the place where I bought it and they exchange my furnace. Now the problem I'm having is the regulator . When I change tanks I can get enough propane pressure it takes about a half hour for some reason then it comes and every thing works just fine ..

The same thing is happening to mine. I was on upper red and ran the first ever 2- 20lb tanks through it and it worked great. I got home and changed one tank and it started doing what your describing. Now it got even worse. It won't even ignite anymore. A red light flashes 3 times which I guess means a ignition lockout fault. I haven't been able to find what to fix if said warning light flashes. The manual just states what it means, not how to resolve.

Please let me know on what your problem was.

if the regulator is sticking it can stick open and or closed if it sticks slightly open it will bleed too much pressure to the gas valve it will lockout the gas valve if the valve sees too much pressure... like said above make sure the breather vent on the regulator isnt plugged if it doesnt vent properly it will stay stuck shut until pressure is relieved, also if possible thaw it out incase moisture has the valve stuck

with the furnace cycling on and off does it fully light? if so the flame sensor may just need a cleaning as long as the flame sensor isnt also the lighting surface for the furnace you can just clean it with a scotch brite easy enough before calling in help

I have had problems with mine also, not working at -38F.... too cold for the gas to vaporize. I have also had ignition problems, burner not blue flame problems, etc... I usually take my unit to a camper dealer or shop as these heaters are the same a RV units. Many times they have been covered under warrantly, and if not, cost was reasonable.

LP and burner exhaust are dangerous items and you want to have 100% confidence in the heater when leaving town, so I highly recommend getting expert help.

I have a new auto changeover regulator on it and cover the tank and regulator while towing. When I was on upper red it was 0 degrees and it didn't affect it. Now its been 30 and its not working. I'm hoping i just got some dirt in it when I changed the tank. I noticed when I took the new tank off to check it there was liquid on the threads and it was dirty. Is that possibly dirty, rusty propane? I got the tank from menards and my problems started when I put the menards tank on.

When spraying compressed air through the lines do you disconnect the furnace or blow right through the regulator and the furnace?

Do not blow air through your gas control or you will buy a new one. Find the flame senser and clean it with a scotch bright. Make sure that all the burners light and burn against the flame senser. BE CAREFUL. You are working on a piece that can kill you.

    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
