New Strike Lite noise on startup

Gus

Question

I just picked up a new Strike lite after my new pro4 gave me problems.

Question for anyone that has the strike lite. Does your motor make any rattling/pinging noises on startup? It seems to subside after 30-45 seconds of running. I can't find a source for the noise. I thought maybe it was just something vibrating but I'm not finding anything apparent. I'll might need to let it get cold again and start it up to see if the noise changes with engine RPM or not. So far I've just run it in the garage and haven't reved it up until it's been warm. I just want to make sure this baby is good to go!

Notes worth a mention: I have been laying it down spark plug up as directed. Oil level is good. 1.7 oz bottle added from the box when opened, and oil level is touching the bottom dipstick before it is screwed in per manual. Good non-oxy premium is the gas.

Look forward to some responses.

Thanks all, and good luck!

It's the clutch partially engaging, mine does the same thing. When the motor is cold it will idle just a little faster and the clutch will engage slightly, but won't move the bit. Once the motor warms it will idle smooth and shouldn't make that noise anymore. If it does adjust the idle control slightly near the choke with a screwdriver to slow the idle. I usually need to adjust it between warmer and cooler weather so it doesn't idle too fast and make the bit spin while idling.
