Crestliner Fishhawk Lid Support?

Recommended Posts

I've been considering replacing my deck lids on my 2004 1850 Fishhawk because I thought the wood was bad, after closer inspection, I realized that the lids are simply aluminum with no wood in them. The problem is that there is no side support for the lids, so the storage and livewell lids on my back deck sag like crazy when I step on them, and I'm 170 pounds. Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution? My local dealer doesn't have any answers, and I emailed Crestliner and never got a response.

'99 1750 and I added angle aluminum on the sides where there is some sagging. In fact, I created two new hatches on the front deck to access more storage. Cut and installed pieces of 1 1/2 angle aluminum to support the sides. Seems to be working for the last 4 years.

Can you post some pics for us?

Sorry it took so long with pictures, but I just replaced the floor in my 1750 today and remembered the pics.

I did this same thing inside the livewell, because that area was soft as well. Really worked well to strengthen the floor.

I also added a bench seat to the back that folds down to a casting deck:

Looks pretty darned nice I'd say. The Crestliner Fishhawk just has to be one of the nicest, most well thought out design for a Minnesota fishing boat to come along in a long while.

I have an 1850 and just have no interest in moving to anything else. And I have had a LOT of boats ranging from 12' to 48'! Ha Ha!

Good work. Now Scotchguard the h--- out of it!!

MW, did you add that wood to those front port and starboard hatches? My 1750 has a little different layout but I will definitely look at the angle aluminum for my two big hatches up front. Thanks for a solution.

I cut those hatches out of the deck myself. That wood was the wood deck up there. Just added the angle aluminum to support by the battery area and added hinges on the opposite sides. I put a piece of the aluminum under the hinge side as well.
