Computer fan mounting?

I bought some computer fans to help move air around in my fish house but I am not sure how to go about mounting them. Would it be ok to mount them flush to the ceiling or should I allow some space in between the ceiling and the fan?

For most efficient performance, you need to have some room between the back of the fan and the ceiling or wall or whatever.

YES like said above you need space for the fans to pull air. I used brake line from the auto parts store and used a tubing cutter to cut into 1" lenghts and just screwd to the ceiling. Seems to blow down pretty good.

I bought 6 computer fans at the ice show and put one in each corner at aprox 45 degree angles. I mounted them pretty tight to the corner originally and didn't get much air movement. So I spaced them out about 1.5" and they blow fine now. Also mounted two more aprox 1/3 from each end and they blow straight down. Again about 1 to 1.5" gap between fan and ceiling.

Sounds like a muffled mini beehive when hooked up.
