Easy Q about MinnKota PowerDrive V2 & built in Sonar

Wadinator

Question

Is this the actual built in transducer? It looks like a spacer plate for where the transducer would go, not an actual transducer. Installed this motor today, but couldn't find the power cord for the fish finder we were hooking it up to so we couldn't test it ourselves.

So... Is this the actual transducer?

Thank you, guys!

We bought this MinnKota PowerDrive V2 with iPilot and Universal sonar in early fall, and we just finally got around to installing it yesterday.

Our intent is to use the universal sonar with our Hummingbird 788ci. However, after we mounted the motor on the boat and took a good look at it, we thought that the transducer looked more like a place holder for a non-transducer equipped motor. Then we noticed the owner's manual stated that our motor was not equipped with the universal sonar, which increased our level of doubt. The cabling on the motor appeared correct, as our trolling-motor-to-fish-finder adaptor cable seemed to fit just fine, but I couldn't find the power cable for the fish finder so we couldn't test it (We previously had this fish finder mounted in our old boat, and I must have lost the power cable during un-installation before we sold the old boat.)

Then I tried googling for a picture of the universal sonar transducer, but had no luck. Reluctantly, I decided to make my above post, even though it makes me look like a complete [PoorWordUsage]. I can only imagine the snickering of people who read this thread and didn't respond.

So, your kind responses are very much appreciated. Here's a picture of the finished product (minus a power cable to the fish finder).

Get the PC11 power cord for your 788. It has a built in electronic choke for trolling motor applications.

It costs about $13, plus shipping. Or, any large vendor should have it.

All Humminbirds run on the same power cord, so it makes it pretty simple shopping them. Well, there is a PC 10 also, with no choke.

The "choke" is an electronic filtering device that helps with electrical "RF" interference from the trolling motor.

You can always try the PC10, but if I were you, Id get the PC11 right from the get go.

1197 or SI, has no bearing on the the power cord
