Studs for Mtn bike tires?

Any body know If they sell or has anybody used anything for studding tires on a Mtn bike?

I have 3 dogs that get cabin fever this time of year and I usually run them with my bike.With that being said I decided to try and ride on the ice across a marsh,It worked better than i thought!!

With this weird winter I have been doing some fun rides on public WMA roads

I just really enjoy getting off the beaten path and would like a little insurance to help avoid taking a spill on hard snow/ice..

Just saw this post. Nokian and Schwalbe (?spelling) make studded mountain bike tires. They aren't usually cheap but have carbide studs and work really well. You can make your own with sheet metal screws too.

If you really enjoy riding in the snow and and even in the summer look into the "fatbikes" pugsleys, 9:zero:7, salsa. Meant for riding in the snow but a blast to ride all year long!

i've always taken sheet metal screws and done it myself.. lot cheaper and works fine.. just lay down a doubled over layer of duct tape to prevent the head from popping the tube
