Runner kit for Frabill flip over shelters, is it worth it?

I have a Frabill Trekker DLX, I can't decide if it would be worth it for me to get the runner kit for it to protect the bottom part of the sled. I know it is necessary if I use atv or snowmobile to pull it around.

However, since I dont own an atv or snowmobile I plan on just pulling it by hand on ice and snow mostly. Is it still necessary to get the runner kit if I only pull by hand? What do you guys think?

I put two lengths of hyfax on my Clam Denali a few weeks ago, in anticipation of mucho four wheeling due to the ice conditions. I haven't been able to even use the four wheeler yet, but will soon!

I went to a snowmobile shop and ACE hardware, 20 minutes on the drill press and 30 minutes installing on the sled. $23 total I think was the cost.

If nothing else, I think it make hand-pulling the full sled easier.

(I read in these forums that putting these on Frabill porties is a pretty difficult task for some reason? The clam was a piece of cake, just sits on it's side at an angle for access from inside and outside at the same time.)

I installed hyfax on my X2 (don't have snowmobile or wheeler) and it does make pulling the sled thru snow much easier. I also think the sled will last a lot longer than without...protect your investment.

Its well worth it. I put them on my Predator this fall. I was starting to get some deep scratches just from pulling it out of my truck and into the garage. Now having them on when I pull it across a lake its like its not even there glides across the ice so well. Pulls just as easily as my little Eskimo. Wasn't too bad of an install my kids did most of the work.
