I bought this polaris 4 wheeler new in Dec 2011! It was a 2010 holdover machine but new. I do not put a lot of miles on this machine! When i was deer hunting this yr if I let it idle it would overheat! I took machine into MSW in Willmar MN where I purchased it last Dec. They tell me the fan is shot is shot & $250.00 for new one! The service manager when asked by me why this fan failed with 37 mi on machine. Tells me I probably idle macine excessive I drive it too slow!!!! OK Maybe time for new dealer & have had a very good experience with my 4 stroke yamaha EFI!! Anyone else had issues with any of the above!!

Does it really overheat (boil over) or do you just get the "HOT" indicator on the dash? I had this issue with my 2005 500. It would indicate hot but never ran hot. It ended up being the engine control module. I went through 2 engine control modules and 2 batteries (luckily all under warranty) before I got a good module.

If it wasnt for polaris 4 wheelers alone, my dads small engine shop would have went under ages ago. That is NO lie. I would say that easily 75% of the 4 wheelers he see's are polaris's with drive train and carb issues.

Im not a polaris hater, I think they make great sleds and even think they make a nice bike, but their 4 wheelers are not good.

If I was you, Id go trade it in and get a Honda. You want a low maintenance, dependable, drive it till the wheels fall off, then a Honda wheeler is what ya need.

i can only speak for one Polaris 500. mine. it's a 2002 and i only drive it for hunting and ice fishing. haven't had a problem with it yet except for a small leak from the tube that ran out of the radiator. haven't even changed the spark plug yet. change the oil and fluids every year and grease what needs to be greased. i run pure oxy free premium in it since it's been new. good luck.

for whats its worth, you might want to run the vin / serial number on your model as there was a recall for the ECU etc on some of Polaris models.

The idling, driving slow etc are all irrelevant. I am willing to bet its just the dummy light going off by mistake due to the ECU being bad.
