Installing bedroom light fixture

Mrs. had me buying one, moving old one to a second place and moving that to a third. The old ones had the fiberglass insulation and I was having a heck of a time mounting them because I couldn't get the bolts through the slotted holes in the fixture. I tried several times and quit several times before I finally quit with the HUA.

I took two pieces of light wire and wrapped them around the bolts and then through the slots in the fixture. The wire helped guide the fixture to the bolts and I had it up in about 45 seconds.

Anyone have any other solutions for what should be a simple problem?

I actually just finished painting a ceiling and the light fixuters are stuffed with fiberglass. Thank for the helpful hint as last night I just went over to try and push the fixture back into place and gave up after 5 minutes.
