Lake Winnepeg ice fishing

Been hearing about Lake Winnipeg for a couple years and the son and are going to try a trip there this winter. Would you suggest march as the best time to go? What is the best area to acces the lake? Do walleye bite at night there? Any general info would help me get started planning

Late February , early march is a great time. Warm weather. Bring an extension, maybe two. West side access at Warner road, chalet beach road, Winnipeg beach, riverton, gimli. East side balsam bay. No real night bite that I have experienced, evening bite can be good.

Cam, pretty sure you just showed a friend of mine from Minneapolis the ropes up there over Xmas Holiday. If so, he just sent me a pic of a 13+ behemoth that your buddy caught the other day that had me about falling out of my chair!

That fish is a hog! Don't know the guy personally, but it is over 12, may be a 14. Had a great time taking him out, wish the fish would have cooperated a little more, but you just have to find them. If you want to come on up, be glad to take you out.

Thanks for the offer Cam! I may just take you up on that. Have been wanting to get up there for a long time now, just hasn't worked out yet. I hear the best time is late Feb. into early March? Would a guy need to bring the wheeler and Otter sled? I'll get your # from Tej and give you a shout one of these days. need to get this one off my bucket list.....
