Lx7 First Impressions...

Instead of adding to the "when are they shipping post" I thought I would created a new post and see what everyones first impressions were:

I tried mine out saturday up on LOW. First thoughts...C'mon Marcum for $700 at least you can print a manual and include it in the box, its only 18 pages??? I also had troube with the auto range I was in 18 fow and it kept flashing between 18 and 38, manually set it to 20 then it was fine, kinda defeats the purpose though. After reading the manual I still don't understand target size either, it seems to do almost the same as the sensitivity setting?

The carrying cradle is pretty poor I can see these units easily being dropped with gloved hands, again something so simple? Your going to want to have a microfiber towel with to wipe off the plastic screen protector when the fish flop water around. But it should do a good job of protecting the screen and was a nice addition.

I really like the big clear display and it was easy to look at all day, nice and bright. Did any one elses display flicker on and off? It happens so fast but it is noticeable and it was constant all day.

After 10 hrs of use, battery life did seem good also. Haven't found a good mounting location for the lure lightning light yet either.

Overall fairly happy just will take some getting used to. Is it better than the Lx5? I don't have enough time on it yet to decide.

I didnt notice any flickers in the screen on mine. I agree the handle isnt great. I plan on taking 2 short pieces of hose, split them so I can get them over the webbing of the handle and then a little black tape to keep it in place. This should hold the handle up above the unit and make it much easier to handle.

After about 5 hrs of use, my battery gauge dint show any changes. Side by side with my LX5 , no interference issues at all.

So far I am VERY happy with it!!

Mine did the same as aczr's, flickering would come and go and today I didn't see it flicker at all, also same issue with the auto depth. Mine would read 3 feet less if used in flasher only mode. If you had one other thing running with it, it would read correct. I'm not sure the charger is working either I was reading 11.5 volts after using it today and tried to charge it and the green light never turned red so I put my marcum dcs 100 charger and it said it was at 0% and I have 2 dcs 100 and both read the same. You could tell it needed charging because when I turned it on the LX7 Logo was shaky.

I'm right with aczr on his review, it's like he wrote exactly what I was thinking!

I think it's like the SFL (single fine line) button on the lx5 making the the bait and fish marks smaller but it does seem to work. I can tell the difference between 1 and 10 setting.

Its exactly that! It either magnifies or minimizes your target size. I would imagine in a tight zoom situation or deep water this would be very handy.

Funny you mention the charger...Mine was plugged in for at least 36 hours and the green light never did turn on. I'll leave it plugged in all week and see what happens. As of now my biggest concern is the screen on/off flicker.

Mine worked well, I didn't have any of the flickering screen or the auto depth changing around, the charger works good, I am having trouble figuring out the sensitivity and target adjust button's, The manual (online) talks about the "Gain" but there is no Gain button, The way I read it the sensitivity buttton controls at the return signal from the transducer, is the "Target Adjust" button the power being sent out of the transducer?

Other then that It is a great unit, The only wish list item for me would be to have the ability to manual set the Range in 2' increments, I was in 23 fow and could only set the depth at the 40' range, so it basicly wasted 1\2 the flasher screen.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
