Lakemaster for Garmin

Anyone know the difference (if there is one) between the Garmin promap SD chip listed on the Reeds site and the Garmin Lakemaster G2 sold on cabelas? Can anyone confirm they are the same chips?

I think you're looking at the same product, I don't know why Cabelas put the g2 on their discription, that was Garmins Blue Chart product...... I think it's a typo. As long as they say Lakemaster, the discription is correct and the product pictured ( or product number ) is right, you should be good to go.

I had a chat with the Lakmaster booth at the St. Paul ice show.

Lakemaster was purchased by Johnson Outdoors. Johnson Outdoors also owns Humminbird.

They've discontinued production of all chips with the exception of Humminbird products.

I also talked to Lakemaster at The St. Paul ice fishing show. I wanted to buy a new one as my old is is 5 years old. He said the same thing to me as I have all Lowrance products. I was there on Friday night and he was already tired of having to tell people that and felt for everyone saying they would never buy a Hummingbird again for that.

so basically anyone with a garmin etc.. that doesn't run navonics is now S.O.L. ? looks like the price of used lakemaster cards is going to be on the rise.
