Cheap Homemade Tip Up Lights!

Just thought I'd share a little info a buddy of mine stumbled upon.

He found cabinet lights that have a magnetic switch called Quick Brites. There is a video on Youtube with something very similar (different brand).

A guy could either mount the light on the base and magnet on the flag, or viseversa.

Tip up lights are at least $5, and often $20 or more. An eight pack of these on e bay would run $13, only $1.60 each!!!!

Also found another thread about using door/window alarms from a home improvement store for a siren tip up alarm. Also very cheap compared to buying "special" sirens that are made for a tip-up.

When I did alot of night tip up fishing I used wireless doorbells. Set my tipups out and slept in my truck many night and had some great walleyes to show for it.

Hey Mike that is a great idea!

How did you rig the doorbell to trip when the flag did?

I found some 1000 ft range (line of sight) doorbells and would like to give it a try.
