Wildlife management areas for grouse

This is my first year grouse hunting, and I got a bit of a late start by not getting out until Thanksgiving. The only places I've hunted have been WMAs (twice at Mille Lacs and once in McGregor). I've only heard one ruffed grouse flutter, and have yet to see a bird to be able to get a shot at it.

Is anyone having any luck in these places? Any other places I could try? Not asking for gps coordinates to your hot spots - just a newbie who needs some help.

Try early mornings or near sunset. Look up in the brush and shrubs they will be picking buds. Its harder now because most of the dumb birds have been shot.

I hunt the Canosia WMA near my home.

I haven't been out recently but I went out once after Thanksgiving and did flush a few and got one. It never seems to get crowded,either
