Red tipped adipose fin

Hi, I hooked into some browns this weekend down in Iowa and a couple of them had a very bright red tip on the adipose fin. Thats not something I ever recall seeing on browns I caught in MN. (although I could have missed it) Im curious if anyone knows what may have caused it. Is is something inherit to a specific strain of brown? Left over spawning colors? Just curious if anyone had seen that before.

ya, Most I catch have red spots on them. This thing is solid bright red. I'll try to throw up a pic. this wouldnt have peaked my curosity so much except I caught 2 trout about 4 or 5 miles apart from each other that had that bright red fin

I don't know if all Brown trout have the blood-red spot on the adipose fin you're describing, or what, if anything, it might mean.

I do know it's quite common on the Browns I catch in SE Minnesota and NE Iowa. Off-hand I don't know if I've ever seen one that didn't have it.
