Muzzy Scope

Recommended Posts

First off, I just want to make clear that you can't scope a muzzleloader for the muzzleloader season in MN. You can use a scoped muzzleloader for the rifle season though.

Back to your question though, the only difference I've seen between the muzzleloader scopes and rifle scopes is that muzzleloader scopes typically have a ballistic reticle that can be calibrated to different yardages with certain loads. Otherwise, a rifle scope would work just fine but you'd have to remember the ballistics of your load and aim accordingly.

I'll be buying a new muzzy this winter and putting a rifle scope on it. It may be just me, but i have a hard time believing that the actual bullet drop will line up perfectly with the different yardage lines in the scope. IMO, get one with just the crosshairs and no yardage lines, know your distances, and ballistics through practice at the range.
