cam position sensor

my daughter has a 03 kia reo that threw a 340 code so i replaced the cam position sensor cleared the code out and the check engine light came back on so i checked it again and its the 340 code again. should i be looking at the wiring? thanks chad

When was the timing belt replaced?

i do not know. she got the car in may.

Check for 12 volts on the red with yellow wire. The yellow wire is ground. the red w/black is the signal wire. it would be best to check signal with a lab scope.

Are you sure your code reader cleared the code?

If the above checks out than you will need to check the timing belt. I'm pretty sure if timing is off it will set this code.

airjer, thanks for the help. looks like im doing a timing belt.

got the timing belt done this weekend. took me 6 hours to do. belt was missing a couple ribs and some were ripped about half way.
