Frabill Fly Reel

Looking to put a fly reel on my power noodle this year and seen frabill put a fly reel on the shelves this year.

Anyone get the chance to check these out yet?

Any input on how they compare to the okumas?

I have not seen one yet but have not heard great reviews about them. I have a 4/5 size Okuma SLV on my Power Noodle and love it.

I've held it in my hand, but obviously not fished with it. They feel nice. It does click when reversed, so I assumed it had some type of drag. I'd like to give one a shot this year

$55 for a fly reel and rod combo(Frabill/Bro). But the reel only cranks with left hand. Wont work for me. I just can't do it. Saw them at FF in Waite Park yesterday.

You can't change the retrieve on Frabills fly reel? Most fly reels you can just flip around for a RH retrieve

open it up and flip the bearing

It looks like there is a little metal tab on the inside part of the reel. Pop that out, and you should be able to flip the bearing like MCRDP said, allowing for RH retrieve.

I have a power noodle with the okuma, and this year I bought 2 quiversticks and put the frabill fly reels on them. The frabills seem fine I think the okumas are a little higher quality but I do like the larger handle on the frabills.

How is the spool diameter on the Frabils? The ones I've seen look small. I would go with an Okuma at that point just for the increased retrieve rate. I've got an Okuma Sierra and an SLV. Both are good reels, the SLV has a better drag, though.

I have the sierra 4/5 and the outside diameter of the frabill reel is about the same. The frabill does have a larger arbor so it takes less backing. I have mine pretty full of line and I would say the retrieve is 6"-8" per turn.
