I like the europian mounts without bleaching the scull and bones plus I like it better with all the teeth and complete head together beside having it without the bottom jaw, gives it a nice natural and scientificy look ha

theres also the typical mounts on wood plaques not the shoulder mounts but just a portion of the skull with the antlers with a felt or some kind of cover to cover the scull. make a nice plaque of your choice, Id like to do a plain wood square plaque with a shelf for the bullet casing used to shoot the deer plus the bullet pieces dug out from the deer plus enough room to frame the tag and a picture

cant think of other kind of mounts

Another vote for the euro mount. One can have the euro mount with the lower jaw and all the teeth. If one wants to save a few bucks, one can purchase a kit to do the euro mount themselves. They also make very nice angled plaques to mount the head to but that would run about another $50 or so.

I have mine bleached and like it that way but everyone likes something different.

Cost for a euro mount I would guess will run approx $125.00.

Then, off course one could have the rack mounted on a plaque and there are many options in regards to felt, velvet or buckskin around the antlers. I would guess that could run from $75.00 on up.

For checking out different options or pictures, I would google taxidermy shops or say euro mounts and one should be able to find some photo's. Or, check out a local taxidermists shop.

Maybe check out Van Dykes Taxidermy supply. I believe they are now owned by Cabelas but they have been in business for quite some time and have many kits for the diy-er.

Go to McKenzie taxidermy supply. They are probably the largest taxidermy supply in the country now. They carry a variety of forms and poses. I did a euro-mount on my buck last year. I skinned the head, I removed the eyes, brain, and threw it in the freezer until the middle of May. I put it in a large clay flower pot and buried it up to the antlers. I put the pot under my deck(laticed so squirrels didn't gnaw on it) until the first of August. I took it out, rinsed it out with the hose and left it in the sun for a couple of days. I bleached it with 12% Hydrogen Peroxide and magnesium carbonate mixed to a paste then painted on with a brush. The peroxide is used in Beauty Salons to bleach hair. Left the peroxide on overnight, rinsed it off and let it dry in the sun. I put two coats of modge podge on it. Used the skull and drew a pattern around it on paper. Cut the pattern out and made two oak boards in the shape of the pattern. The skull goes on one board and gets attached to the other board at an angle. It turned out great and didn't cost me anything but time. I have a friend that lives on the river and just puts the skull in the river over the winter and gets even better results(no yellowing of the bone).
