Google apps for business?

Recommended Posts

My company uses it, and I actually managed the changeover from our old exchange server and migrating all the information into Google. It is an excellent service for a very reasonable price, however after being a standard gmail user since its infancy I haven't found that anyone within our office really puts many of the additional features of the business end of things to much use. The biggest thing you have to consider I guess is that you have the ability to still maintain a domain name for your email address rather than just "@gmail.com" you can have "@businessnamehere.com".

The Business side also allows for much more intensive use of the calendars and sharing data between users on their calendars, more streamlined event invitations it seems, shared contacts within all the accounts associated with your business account. The nicest thing as was mentioned above is that whoever is assigned as the administrator has the ability to really get in and manage the settings for everyone's account. If one user tends to have bigger issues with spam or things similar to that, you can get into the control panel and tweak just their spam filter and never touch their actual login.

I guess my biggest question would be, how many users are you thinking. If its just yourself or a couple people, then I wouldn't see much purpose to switching unless you like the idea of your domain name as your email address (big marketing thing there though!).
