Beware of shady company practices

I just received a call from T Mobile they were going to send me a signal booster for my home. I never requested anything like that.

It was completely free and no charge of any kind attached to it, and the caller was actually a T Mobile sales rep.

They only requested I would agree to extend my contract until Oct 2013 to help for the expenses.

Well guess what, I am not under any contract at all, never been with T Mobile. Accepting the "free" offer it would have me enrolled in a 2 year contract without my intention.

This is unbelievable, what a bunch of crooks.

Sounds like a sales rep trying to drum up business, through less than ethical means.

I've been with TMobile for 8-10yrs and I've never had them call me.

Are you sticking with Tmo? I'm out of contract now, but looking to sign onto one of their value packages because I can save over $100 per month.

I don't know if I will stick with them. I am at war at the moment.

When I started using TMO I was not under contract, I changed plans, phones, features, services, etc. They always thanked me for being a valued customer even if I was without a plan.

Well after this call, I discovered somebody changed all my info and got me under a contract since Apr 2010. I told them to show me proof of me agreeing to any contract and they state they don't have to !!! I am fighting it as hard as I can, since I want to change plan and reduce the cost too, but I cannot anymore, I have to wait until Apr 2012 when contract expires.

2 months ago I asked to send the new 4g sims for all of us and they thanked again for being a valued NO PLAN customer.

I think the merger with AT&T has something to do with this, they've always had crappy service, arrogant and with poor customer service.

So if you want my opinion, don't do it, you will regret it. I am shopping for a different company, maybe Sprint.

Problem is there's not much out there anymore. This has got out of hands, I am spending $ 220/month for cell phone service. That's unbelievable how we got there. It's just a phone, for how much we justify it, it's still just a phone, it does not improve our financial situation, in fact it worsens it.

I recently heard that if you cannot get cell coverage in you home, that it is a reason for you to legally break the contract with a cell provider.

I suppose if they can call around and get people to accept a signal booster for their home and extend their contract before the word gets out the cell co. wins

If you have clearly no service in your area based on their maps you can get out no questions asked. If you have service problems, erratic coverage ect, you can also get out of the contract. My gf did this with verizon. They offered to give us a free network extender and we agreed as long as they paid for my high speed internet. I use my phone as my internet so I told them if I needed to get internet, then I might as well not have a phone!

main thing is when you talk to customer service always ask for their supervisor. Be nice about it, but ask for the supervisor and things will get done!

Well, my experience has always been great and I have had no problems whatsoever. I currently have 3 lines. We share 750 minutes, though never use half, have unlimited texting and I have unlimited internet with 4G. This costs us $125. I do get a 15% discount through work, but my bill would still be less than $150.

Like I said I've been with them for many years and I left sprint for TMO after a friend went with TMO and really liked it. They have the 2nd best coverage in MN behind verizon, better prices and I've always had good service. If I had to change providers I would choose Verizon. I have sprint on my work phone and they are still as crappy as they were when I dropped them 10yrs ago.

I can't say anything about the contract issue. It sounds fishy to me and if they can't produce a contract, then the burden is on them. I've always had a contract and I find nothing wrong with that. It has never been a hindrance to me. To each their own I guess.
