Garmin 178C

Tom7227

Question

A friend's Garmin 178C wouldn't fire up last week. He said it is about 6 years old. I told him that I thought it likely was kaput and that Garmin likely wouldn't have any support for it. I am not sure but I suspect he never got any software upgrades for it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for your time.

Tom

It never hurts to give Garmin a call. On the hand held gps there is a flat fee for a rebuild or trade for a rebuild. I don't know if it applies to the combo units like the 178C but I would be interested in what is found out because I have a 178C that has an issue with the display when it is real hot and in the sun for several hours. Heck I might even be interested in the dead (if it truly is dead and not just a power issue) unit as maybe I could trade out the display with mine.
