Tri-Pod Stands

So while researching tripod deer stands, Im not sure whether to buy a steel one from the store, or build one. I would love to build a custom one, but the benefit of having them ones from the store, is they can easily be disassembled and relocated..I think the price for lumber would be about the same anyway. I seen a nice 16' steel tri-pod stand with a full shelter cover for like $300 at the store. Thinking about doing it.. Insights??

Well, what's your lumber, parts, and time cost? What would you make "custom" about the stand that doesn't come on the store-bought stand? Can you mod the store-bought stand to incorporate those improvements? What would it take to make your custom stand easily disassembled and moved?

My hunting party owns one of the tripods and we all hate it. Its a fairly expensive one but, its tough to get in and out of, the seat squeaks, you are always siloetted (where we are), theres no foot room or places to put your extra "stuff".

Thats just my take, Maybe you'll love it!

i have a couple they have plasic sheaves where the seat sits it doesnt make any noise but as said they can be tricky gettin into if you have to much heavy clothing on ,otherwise i like it as for prices just wait till the end of the season they will be a lot less pricewise.
