Blue Box Hot Rod v2

So as the season gets closer, I have been thinking of ways I could improve upon my old blue box mod from a couple years back. That one had some pvc rod tubes on the sides and a ram mount for the H20 gps. It worked good, but the pvc was a bit big (think I used 2") and too thick so my fly reels didn't seat in as well as I wanted. Standard spinning setups would fit great though. With the new blue box hot rod, I wanted to incorporate a couple extras.

Included this time around are:

Two rod holders (1 1/2" PVC drain extension - thinner walls than standard pvc)

Storage slot for a Rose Creek jig box

Vexilar Pro Mount to increase viewing angle options in different scenarios (and so I can mount it on my boat)

I haven't added the GPS mount yet, and I think I might add a battery readout as well.

Here are the photos so far.

You can see that I fabbed up my Rose Creek storage slot with some aluminum angle. This worked out pretty slick. Light weight too. I countersunk the screw heads to keep everything nice and clean as well. The box fits in there snug, but it doesn't take a ton of effort to access it. I am pretty excited about how this turned out. Can't go wrong with a Blue Box, especially when there is a Vexilar FL-22 HD mounted on it.

To me the main goal to accomplish with this mod is making myself more efficient on the ice. The Blue Box affords me the option of several mounting surfaces and endless configurations. The way it sits now, I can carry a Rose Creek box full of jigs, my flip open plastic container with about 150 plastics crammed in it in different shapes and colors, and two spare rods all in one organized little spot. Along with another rod, I can hole hop and have several options at my fingertips.

Maybe I should put a handwarmer grip on it.
