Fenwick® ELITE TECH- Ice Rod

I was wondering if any one has used the Fenwick® ELITE TECH- Ice Rods? and how do they compare to Thorne Bro's rods? I am a big believer in TB's rods just wondering.

They don't compare. They don't have much of a backbone, there heavy and flimsy.

well, for one, you cant compare a TB Ice rod to a Fenwick Elite Tech!! just not in the same class!! not to mention approx double the price of TB! i am curious bout the elite techs! do they perform better than the Frabill bro/ice hunter rods?... we'll see... Northland tackle has a new rod also, similar to the st. croix. legend ice reel seat! with a rubberized cork grip!! ..... i just wonder however... Trav P., do you have some insider knowledge that i may not have??!! how do you know bout the heavy, flimsy backbone?

Trav has a line on a lot of new products coming out. And he pays a lot of attention to the details. I am guessing he may have seen a few at the porty mod gtg at Thorne Bros a couple weeks ago. I was unable to attend this year cause I was shooting a wedding. From the sounds of it, I missed out on a heck of a show.

I don't doubt it one bit! just was curious on the early review.... again, the TB rod is the "bees knees" when it comes to ice rods.... again, NO COMPARISON!! not even close to the same price point! i feel people need to compare apples to apples and not apples to oranges!

Thomas asked how they compare to a TB rod, I gave my opinion. Tom is right, I handled them at the GTG. The Bro rods would be a better choice the the new Fenwick IMO.

yes, i did relize this, i guess it was my way of finding out if the OP really has used a TB rod! now the only reason i know, cause my dad owns 2! and anyone that has used/owned a TB rod, would know that what i said above holds true...(apples to oranges). i by any means didn't mean to sound like i was "calling" you out or shed doubt on your findings...but anyways, back to the topic..LOL! (gotta love some freindly debate!) i still may buy one, just to check it out, if it feels like you said... well, the boy just got a new rod!LOL! Fenwick has always been known for producing a good walleye/smallmouth rod. i loved the hmx's that i used to have! are they using a different blank?, a more mass produced overseas blank? also, did you have all the "fixins" attached?(reel,line,jig)

Thanks TravP, I won't bother with the Elite Rods and just stick with the Fenwick summer rods. Still love the TB Rods. I got 3 getting made now to add to the 6 I all ready have.

Checked them out today. Not overly impressed with the Medium lights, but I did like the feel of the Medium. I will be picking up a couple of those for walleye jigging.
