Lowrance 4.0 upgrade

lawman

Question

I just wanted to pass along a tip. I own a Lowrance High Def marine gps unit. I learned a while ago that you could download an upgrade from Lowrance HSOforum to fix all the glitches on these new units. (Oh, how I wish my old unit still worked) I tried unseccessfully to download the upgrade several times. I shared my frustration with a guy at a retail store that sells these units. He hooked my gps to a power source in his store installed the upgrade and in minutes and I was on my way. He said he does it all the time. If you are having similar problems check with your retailer.

Some gps and gps/sonar units have trouble with reading data from the various lake chips at speeds over 5mph. The screen jumps. I know my unit just cold not handle the Navionics chip. The screen jumped all the time. Have heard of other problems with sonar units not reading at high speeds.

Most of the version 4.0 fixes had to do with improving gps performance. Sonars not reading at high speed are likely to be an installation problem, not a software problem. We have also helped many people who couldn't figure out how to download the update themselves.
