chasineyes
Hello everyone! My dad has a 2003 Yamaha 115 4 stroke. During may it ran fine and then sat until middle of august with little gas. ( i know sad it wasn't used much this summer) When he went up in August he filled it up and went out but would never go up 30mph or 4500 rpm. It does idle fine and runs good at low throttle. It just kind of bogs dow upon full throttle.. We've changed plugs and the filter on the motor. We also added stabil in case there was water in the tank. The dealer says something about adding another filter between the hand pump/primer and the tank to remove potential water? We think? there is another filter coming off the tank that he is going to attempt to find this week. Any thoughts???THANKS!

It ran like a carp so to speak every spring. When he would finally put a bunch of fresh gas in it ran much better. Moral of story, try some fresh gas. and yes, a water separating filter is said to be a good idea.
rustysetter
Chasineyes, they do recommend a 10 micron filter for those, I had one installed on mine two years ago, it's mounted back in the splash well and looks like an oil filter.
