Evinrude Scout trolling motor

Tom7227

Question

I have one that is 12 volt that was on a boat that I bought. It's been sitting around for about 7 years and I'm thinking of selling it. I was surprised to see so many things on hsolist about this motor. Why all the interest? Should I go with hsolist or what? I have the bow mount jobberdo and the motor. Maybe it's some sort of classic since it has the foot control, but the cable system it uses seems very awkward to me. I tried it when I bought the boat and didn't like it very much.

Thanks for your time.

Tom

Well it is definitely more than 7 years old. The Evinrude trolling motors used to be made in S.E. Asia until Johnson Outdoors (i.e. Minn Kota) made them for OMC in the late 1990s. When OMC went belly up the Evinrude brand went to Bombardier, and they got out of the trolling motor business altogether.

Does the motor look like a Minn Kota? If not it is at least 15 years old.
