Finlander
My forearm on my 15 year old 11-87 spilt but not totally! When I was shooting ducks with it it split, so I found some electrical tape to hold ot together while I continued to shoot. My question is: is there a good wood glue that will hold this together as I am waiting to recieve a new synthetic stock from Remington next week? Gissert
Titebond 3 is an excellent wood glue that will hold up to water. You may have to clamp it after glue application. Regardless of what glue you use, make sure that the joints are clean and have a enough glue so that it squeezes out when the parts are pressed/clamped together. You can wipe the squeeze-out with a wet rag or paper towel. I make wood duck houses out of cedar deck boards held toghther with Titebond. I have yet to have a proper glue joint fail with Titebond. mpester
When I had a forearm start to crack I repaired it with glue but I used a couple of small, light piece of sheet metal on the inside to anchor the two sides of the wood together. I cut the metal about ½” by 1” and glued it on the inside of the forearm. I did that about 10 years ago and it is still rock solid and you can hardly see the damage. Finlander
I ended up using arrow fletching glue and a big c-clamp! Got a new forearm on order from Remington as this is a synthetic forearm in Maxx4 camo for $18.00 shipped! Got lucky as this was a clearence item!
