Fishing in State Parks out of season

Going camping at Whitewater next month with my family (October). I know that the trout season ends September 30, but couldn't find any info about whether we are still allowed to fish as long as it's within the park boundaries...anyone know?

But you can fish for everything else in water that is not designated as trout water.

Around Whitewater, that leaves you with lots of options.

You can find maps of the designated trout water here: http://dnr.wi.gov/fish/species/trout/streammaps.html

You can find a listing here: http://dnr.wi.gov/fish/species/trout/wisconsintroutstreams.pdf

...and you can find the regulations here: http://dnr.wi.gov/fish/regulations/2010/documents/TroutRegs10-11LowRes.pdf

Read the regulations carefully, you may find that specific water (lakes, most often) have different season dates that streams and rivers. Dark Lake in Chippewa County, for example, is open from May 1st at 5:00 AM until March 6th. In Walworth County both Lake Geneva and Beulah Lake have different seasons than the regular trout season.

Just to clarify for everyone, you are referring to Whitewater State Park in Minnesota, and not Whitewater, Wisconsin?

That'd make sense if he's in MN. I should have asked first.

I was also fast to jump to conclusions too. He may very well be talking about Wisconson's Whitewater. Neither of us will know for sure until he verifies it. Either way, he's got the laws for both so he is well informed!
