using steel barrels for waterfowl question

Recommended Posts

While out hunting yesterday, my dad was about 100 yards from me in the slough. I could barely see him against the cattails, but the shiny barrel on his gun really stood out. When we were done, first thing he told me was how he could see my steel barrel from across the slough no problem. Im thinking thats probably not good for waterfowl hunting, how much does the shiny barrel affect birds coming in, should i use a different gun for ducks? Thanks

My first waterfowl gun was a shinny 870 well I just decided that its a hunting tool and doent need to look shinny for hunting so I just painted it with duck boat paint. the shinny gun is for the collector grin

I have other water fowl guns that are matte black to the camo versions.

and if it starts to shine I will have NO problem painting it as it is a tool for waterfowl hunting.

They also make removeable spray paint for bows and guns..
