Day #1 is in the books and HSO's own mnfishinguy has a commanding lead on the co-angler side of the leader board. He drew Keith Kavajecz to fish with, one of the best in the business. How lucky is that!

Good luck the next two days, John.

Just missed taking the big check as co-angler. Last guy to weigh, and tournament leader Tommy Skarlis' co-angler, had a big basket to grab 1st place from mnfishinguy. Definitely a Rolaids moment! Thought he had it.

Man the weigh-in was exciting to watch. Was pulling for you John all the way thinking the two of us could go back to back. Would have been unreal!

I hope you took notes and can share some of Shimota's handlining secrets.

And I hope your wife likes her new handline reels. smile

My money is on Skarlis tomorrow. He's been incredible on that river.

Quote:
Tommy Skarlis of Waukon, Iowa, and co-angler Todd Dankert of Anoka, Minn., caught five walleyes weighing 17 pounds, 2 ounces Saturday to maintain the lead on the third day of the National Guard FLW Walleye Tour Championship on the Missouri River.

Dankert of Anoka, Minn., won the Co-angler championship title with a total of 15 walleyes weighing 58-12 and earning $7,000 for his efforts. He fished with OFF! pro Chris Gilman on day one, was then paired with David Andersen on day two and on day three he fished with Skarlis.

Skarlis’ three-day catch of 15 walleyes weighing 58-0 gives him a solid 4-pound, 14-ounce lead over his closest competitor in an event which started with the top 40 pros and 40 co-anglers from the 2011 FLW Walleye Tour season.

Pros are fishing for a top award of up to $70,000.

Rounding out the top 10 pros after the third day of the tournament:

2. Walmart pro Dean Arnoldussen, Appleton, Wis., 15 walleyes, 53-2

3. National Guard pro Bill Shimota, Lonsdale, Minn., 15 walleyes, 52-8

4. David Andersen, Amery, Wis., 15 walleyes, 51-8

5. EverStart pro Dan Stier, Mina, S.D., 14 walleyes, 50-6

6. OFF! pro Chris Gilman, Chisago City, Minn., 15 walleyes, 50-6

7. Keith Kavajecz, Kaukauna, Wis., 14 walleyes, 47-1

8. Kevin Carstensen, Merrill, Wis., 15 walleyes, 44-14

9. Tom Kemos, Oconomowoc, Wis., 15 walleyes, 44-13

10. National Guard pro Mark Courts, Harris, Minn., 15 walleyes, 43-14

Top 10 co-anglers:

“I never fished the Missouri River before this tournament,” said Dankert. “What an awesome fishery. It is healthy, full of fish and just unbelievable. I tell you what, as soon as I get back to where I am staying, I am going to wrap my hands in Band-aids. My hands are just tore-up, we caught so many fish.

“You just can't beat the week that I have had. I couldn't have picked better partners if I tried. I was paired with three of the best and I have to thank each and every one of them. I had a blast. I am thrilled, really thrilled,” he said.

Thanks guys, it was an awsome experience. I'm not so sure that Tommys fish will be there in the morning. If they are gone, look out for Dean, bill and Dave to make a serious run to the top.

I was part right, Tommy's fish where gone but Dan Steir's fish where there. He made a good jump and now is the 2011 FLW Walleye Tour Champion.

Way to go Dan!

Steir and Skarlis where fishing the same fish differently. Steir has been using creek chubs and Skarlis was using Gulp!. I don't know if it was told or not, but Steir won the casino tournament last weekend fishing the same spot the same way. The bridge had been kicking out kicking out the larger fishin the system for a month or so now so it really wasn't a secret spot or anything. When we got there Thursday morning there where a couple of locals already there.

I have to wonder what they where thinking when all of these wrapped boats pulled up and where litterally touching each other fishing the same spot. For good or bad, the locals didn't stick around to long before they went to another spot.

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
