Bogwalker88
Will be hunting a small lake in western Minnesota for opening weekend. I plan on keeping my spread on the smaller side so ill probably go with a dozen Dakota mallards and 10 dakota goose floaters. What will your opening day spread look like? HNTNBUX
Even on opening day I have been out done by the larger spread down the lake a bit. I wont bring them all this weekend but I will have about 5-6 dozen ducks with and about a dozen geese. I will adjust as needed mostly because I have not picked the exact place I am going to hunt yet. mooneyes
2 dozen total, with some woodies and mallards in the mix should help cancel a flight or two
creepworm
Half dozen mallards and a mojo. Usually all it takes in SD.
mooneyes
heck you could probably leave the floaters at home and just take the mojo, anybody ever tried that?
Huntin&Fishin
cant use mojos on opener or first two weeks,
creepworm
heck you could probably leave the floaters at home and just take the mojo, anybody ever tried that? Have a few friends that do that early in the season and are pretty successful. It just makes me feel better to have some decoys there besides the mojo. Finlander
50 duck decoys, 20 Canada goose decys! Goose decoys upwind of the duck decoys, and the duck decoys closer to the weedline and me!
carpshooterdeluxe
It all depends on what we find scouting tonight, so we are loading a field spread and a water spread; probably going to hunt a small pothole in a wheat field though; 2 layout blinds, 18 canada fullbodies, a dozen mallard shells, 2 spinners, and a dozen duck floaters. Looks to be both geese and a mix of mallard, pinnies and wigeon using this hole right now so hopefully we can get in there. Probably bring along 4 dozen extra honker dekes just in case there is enough pressure moving birds around throughout the morning. Hard to concentrate on ducks though when we can still shoot 8 canadas per person this weekend.
bogwalker
I think you could choose a more original name. Bogwalker
benbosh
6 teal, 2 woodies, mallard butts on a jerk string and maybe 2 goose decoys. Had about 500-600 ducks on 213 acre lake from august through about YWD then it dropped down to about 200-300 early this week to maybe 100 this morning thanks to cold fronts and what not. Friend just texted me and said theres already a bunch of people at the lake. I'm guessing they seen all the ducks a few weeks ago and never scouted recently. I'd love to see their faces when light comes and there arn't hardly any ducks out there
