bear rugs question

So in talking to my taxidermist he wants to know what color felt to use around the black bear rug, I looked online saw a few but can't decide and hard to tell can't find many to look at, what have some of you used? The black with red outside look good but haven't seen many others.

I did one for a fellow with gold and black and that also looked pretty nice.

Yes, the common colors are red and black.

It might help with picking out the border colors if you know where you are going to hang it or put it.

Wheres it going to hang and what other colors are in the room. Yea I know queer eye for the bear guy BUT you wouldnt believe how many times Ive heard can you change the boarder color? After it was done.Fun looking at thier faces when ya tel em sure for $125-$150. Heres a tip ask the wife..... Red and Gold have been the standard BUT some blues and greens look good.......

I prefer black and black--it makes the bear look bigger and it goes with anything

I was wondering the same thing...thinking black felt now. Not to highjack the thread, but what about the facial expression?? I have heard it both ways...thinking mouth open with those big old fangs showing. Have friend that has one with the nose just krinkled up like a po ed dog with a little bit of teeth showing that is pretty cool though too...

My dad shot one a long time ago, and he used a darker red around it. It looks really nice.
