Tractor Hydraulics

So last weekend I was working on our hunting land with the old 560 my dad and I bought for food plots when the steel on the right side of the bucket broke. I can get that side re-welded but the hydraulic RAM on the left side isn't working now. I don't have any experience with hydraulics so I was wondering of some "simple" things to try to fix it.

I did have dirt in the bucket and pretty much all of the weight came down on that RAM when the right side broke. There is a tiny bit of fluid leaking out of the RAM but it is very minimal and not even forming a puddle.

Could be the seals inside the cylinder were damaged and now when you try to move it the fluid is just bypassing through.

Can it be rebuilt or is it pretty much shot if this is the case? I kind of think this is what may have happened since the bucket swung when it broke.

Depends.

They can be rebuilt but depending on the problem in some cases it's just a cost effective to buy a complete cylinder if there is nothing particularly special about the one you have.

Just bear in mind if you decide to tear into it that you need to ensure all the weight is off the cylinder and or that any weight on that system is properly supported before disconnecting the hoses/lines, otherwise something will come crashing down and you'll get an oil bath, or worse.

Sometimes there are load check valves or maybe counterbalance valves right on the cylinder as well. Same thing applies. Ensure the bucket or whatever is fully lowered and or supported before disconnecting or unscrewing anything.

Better yet we just found another loader for cheaper than it will cost to fix this one. AND a lot less time!!!!!

sounds like your cylinder is still good as long as there is no oil leaking on the outside. the cylinder will have # on it. look around on the internet for a rebuild kit it should only run $30-50 and is pretty easy to rebuild. if you need any help give me a call.
