FIsh house frame: Buy Or build?

Hi, Can get an 8x8 frame at Miltona Black Smith for about 1000, or i could build it myself, but the axle and such is still around $500 From Miltona [PoorWordUsage]. Any other places to go for crank axles? Should I just have Miltona build the whole frame? I am an experienced welder, with all the tools to do it, but it would save time having him do it. I thought the axle would cost less than that. I am doing the rest of the house myself since I have a custom woodworking/cabinetry shop, it only makes sense. Thanks for the input.

My dad is a welder (30+ years), and we wouldn't even consider building our own. There is a VERY minimal cost savings (especially with an 8x8), and the amount of time it would take to "learn" to build one would equate to about $2/hour. Much easier to just have someone else do it.

That's what I was thinking, by the time you pick up the metal, cut it, get it to the right size, and all that. Now is there anywhere else that would do it for less than Miltona Blacksmith, without sacrificing quality, or what do you think?

remember that all trailers have to be street legal and there are liability issues if you dont build it right and have a accident you could get in big trouble

The fish house store has quality frames and they have a 10 year warranty.

Miltona builds the best frames i've seen for the $$$. My buddy just bought one this spring. It seems to be a really nice frame. 6.5 by 12 with a square front for right at $1000 i think he said.

I have emailed miltona twice now and havent gotten a reply. Guess they dont check the email lol Oh well I will have to call instead! Come on Ice!

I had him build a frame. He always answered my calls or called back promptly. Good guy to work with on a frame.

yes shortly after i posted I got a call lol. Looks like a 6.5 x 14 frame will be in the garage soon!
