Looking at used boats for sale. Any opionion on the Optimax?

I've owned a few Optimax motors. My current rig has a 225 Opti on it. They had some trouble with the pre-03 'big blocks', 225 hps, but most manufacturers did with the early DFI motors.

My current 225 is great on gas and oil.

So '05 and later should be OK?

It is a two stroke correct?

They are getting better but the ones I have been around are loud. Like said above they had issues in the past but the newer ones seem ok and are dependable. Did I say they were loud.

i love my 04 150 optimax and have had zero problems

As mentioned, the early 'big block' Optis (200+ hp) had some issues.

I have a 2006 175 Opti. The 'mid block' Optis (135, 150, and 175 hp) have an outstanding reputation - reliable, fast, good on gas. I love mine, lots of hours on it and it's been great.

They are loud.

What year and HP are you looking at? The Opti is loud but the Pro XS version is quieter and puts out more HP than the regular version.

im on my 2nd optimax 1 have a 2006 115 opti now, been perfect, good power, good on gas , very quiet compared to 150 optis

I just picked up a rig with 115 opti tiller on it. It's not quiet but still a lot quiter than the old 2 strokes.

Checked around before buyibng and they have a very good reputation after a rough start.
